Shaw seeks to reignite cable growth while focusing on network improvements in wireless.
Shaw Communications posted fourth-quarter results for fiscal 2017 that were tracking closely with our top-line expectations, after accounting for the sale of its ViaWest business in the middle of the quarter. Total revenue was up 2.6% on a comparable basis, thanks to double-digit growth in wireless and a flat top line in cable. However, firmwide profitability was weaker than we expected, as EBITDA margin was only 38.5% in the quarter compared with 42% a year ago.
