Sina to Distribute Weibo Shares to the Shareholders of Sina a Second Time
Sina, the controlling shareholder of Weibo, announced it will distribute Weibo shares that it owns to the shareholders of Sina for a second time, following its previous distribution of Weibo shares in October 2016. This is equal to a special dividend payout, which is positive for shareholder return, in our opinion. Given Sina’s equity stake in Weibo will decrease by about 3%, from 49% or 74% voting rights to 46% or 72% voting rights, our fair value estimate for narrow moat-rated Sina will decrea...Sina is an online media company serving China and the global Chinese communities.
