On May 21, Matt Hancock, the United Kingdom Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, wrote a ministerial statement regarding Comcast’s offer to buy Sky: “I am minded not to issue (a European Intervention Notice) on the basis that the proposed merger does not raise concerns in relation to public interest considerations," he said.
