Sonoco Manages Mixed Third Quarter; Tops Our Expectations on Higher Containerboard Pricing
While Sonoco's third quarter suggests stronger-than-anticipated results for the year, performance was mixed across its segments. The key driver of strength has been the rapidly rising price environment for old corrugated containers, and consequently corrugated medium and linerboard, both used in corrugated boxes. In contrast, volumes have remained lackluster across the board.
