Stifel’s wealth management operating margins can exceed expectations due to interest income growth.

We don't expect the ongoing challenges to the Department of Labor's fiduciary rule to have much of an impact on the U.S.-based asset managers and wealth management firms we cover, as many of the trends that have affected both industries the past several years--from the growth of low-cost passive investment vehicles (at the expense of actively managed products) to the increased use of fee-based account structures by advisors and broker/dealers--are unlikely to abate in the near to medium term.
