We Believe Stifel Financial Can Achieve Both Cost Control and Growth
As our investment thesis for Stifel Financial having peer-beating growth as it deployed excess capital has largely played out, management is changing its tune to focus on costs. On a pro forma basis excluding revenue related to some sold Sterne Agee businesses, net revenue in the fourth quarter increased approximately 17% from the previous year. Of the increase, approximately one third came from net interest income, as the company grew its bank assets over 250% to $12.8 billion from $4.6 billion...Stifel Financial is a financial holding company. The company's principal subsidiary is Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated, a retail and institutional wealth management and investment banking firm. The company's principal activities are: private client services; institutional equity and fixed income sales, trading and research, and municipal finance; investment banking services; and retail and commercial banking.
