We believe management is being overly optimistic, and shares are overvalued.
Silicon Valley Bank finished the third quarter with surprisingly strong results. The company earned $2.79 per shares, well ahead of our expectations. This quarter’s earnings mark a $0.57 per share improvement from the previous quarter. Much of this improvement came from warrant gains as a result of the IPO of Roku. Warrant gains accounted for nearly $0.28 of this improvement. In addition, credit quality remains stable. Allowances for loan losses as a percentage of total loans was 1.12%. Thus far...SVB Financial Group is a financial services company, as well as a bank holding company and a financial holding company. The company provides commercial and private banking products and services through its principal subsidiary, Silicon Valley Bank. The company has three segments: Global Commercial Bank, which comprises of its Commercial Bank, its Private Equity Division, SVB Wine, SVB Analytics and its Debt Fund Investments; SVB Private Bank, which provides a range of personal financial solutions for consumers; and SVB Capital, which focuses primarily on funds management.
