Handelsbanken: Moat Rating Downgraded to Narrow, FVE Increased to SEK 128; Shares Are Fairly Valued

After a transfer of coverage to a new analyst, we have downgraded our economic moat rating for Svenska Handelsbanken to narrow from wide and increased our fair value estimate to SEK 128 per share, which corresponds to 1.8 times book value and 13.5 times earnings based on our 2018 estimates. We view shares as fairly valued.

Co. has four business areas: Handelsbanken Capital Markets, which includes operations for investment banking, asset management, and also pensions and insurance; Stadshypotek, a mortgage provider; Forestry and Farming, which provides financial advice to forest owners and farmers; and Handelsbanken Direkt, which is engaged in business and product development of standardised banking services for the private and corporate market.
