Synaptics reported fiscal third-quarter results and fourth-quarter guidance that were both slightly below our expectations due to the well-documented smartphone inventory-correction that has been weighing on component suppliers. Complicating matters is Synaptics’ current transition from older display driver chips and fingerprint sensors to newer variants, while management also noted Chinese smartphone OEMs have become considerably more cost-conscious for flagship devices.
