Time Warner Posts Strong 2Q; AT&T Deal Remains Under DOJ Review
Time Warner reported a strong second quarter as results came in just ahead of expectations. Total revenue improved by 5% to $7.3 billion (in line with consensus) and adjusted operating income grew 4% to $1.8 billion (above consensus of $1.7 billion). Management still expects the merger with AT&T to close by the end of the year, but we remain skeptical on timing, given the current turmoil within the Trump administration, specifically with respect to the Department of Justice.
