Total looks set to cover the dividend in 2018.
Total posted a sharp increase in first-quarter earnings to $2.6 billion from $1.6 billion last year as higher oil prices translate into much improved upstream earnings that offset weakness in its other segments. E&P earnings jumped to $1.4 billion from $386 million last year thanks to a 59% increase in liquids price realizations and growth in volumes of 4% from new project startups. Guidance for full-year production remains at 4% despite upcoming seasonal maintenance and continuation of OPEC...Total is an international integrated oil and gas company also active in solar and biomass energy sources.
