In the third quarter of 2017, Total took full advantage of improving oil prices and strong demand for petroleum products, reporting an increase of 29% in underlying profits to $ 2.7 billion. Upstream production grew 6% to 2.6 million barrels per day with project ramp-ups and portfolio additions in Qatar and the Barnett Shale more than offsetting natural field declines and OPEC quotas.
