Unilever Gets in Shape to Face Competitive Threats; Strategic Review Likely to Create Value
It took an approach from Kraft Heinz to spark management into life, but the results of Unilever’s strategic review suggest that the company has finally got religion on the emerging competitive challenges it faces in its categories. We welcome the overdue measures to leverage its wide economic moat and extract more cash from the business, and we think the new financial targets are, for the most part, achievable. We are raising our fair value estimate by 25% to EUR 50 from EUR 40 for the Amsterdam...Unilever is engaged in the supply of consumer goods in foods, household care and personal products. Co.'s activities are carried out through four categories: Personal Care, sales of skin care and hair care products, deodorants and oral care products; Home Care, sales of home care products, such as powders, liquids and capsules, soap bars and a range of cleaning products; Foods, sales of soups, bouillons, sauces, snacks, mayonnaise, salad dressings, margarines and spreads; and Refreshment, sales of ice cream and tea-based beverages. Co.'s products are sold in over 190 countries around the world.
