Pricey Deal Speculation Swirls Around United Technologies and Rockwell Collins

Recent speculation of deal talks between narrow-moat Rockwell Collins and wide-moat United Technologies leaves us concerned that the latter might overpay in an M&A environment that seems rich. Rockwell’s shares have jumped over 6% since news of the potential acquisition began swirling, with today’s price representing an over 25% premium to our $99 fair value estimate.
