Windstream Expects Greater Synergy With EarthLink but Posts Mediocre Results; Shares Fairly Valued
Windstream closed its merger with EarthLink on Feb. 27 and expects to generate about $150 million in annualized synergies within the next three years, up from $125 million. The market reacted favorably to this news, with the stock price up more than 10% on Feb. 27, while the reaction has moderated following mediocre fourth-quarter results released March 1.
