Xilinx Looks to Return to Growth in Fiscal 2017; Raising Fair Value Estimate to $50 Per Share
Xilinx reported fiscal third-quarter results in line with our expectations. While the field-programmable gate array, or FPGA, leader has been able to maintain stellar profitability, the cyclical forces prevalent in the numerous end markets in which Xilinx operates have made it difficult for the firm to generate sustained growth. Consequently, the firm has increased its research and development, or R&D, spending in recent quarters to help foster growth, particularly in promising end markets s...Xilinx designs and develops programmable devices and associated technologies, including: integrated circuits (ICs) in the form of programmable logic devices (PLDs), including programmable System on Chips and three-dimensional ICs; Adaptive Compute Acceleration Platform, a multi-core heterogeneous compute platform; software design tools to program the PLDs; software development environments and embedded platforms; targeted reference designs; printed circuit boards; and intellectual property (IP), which consists of the company and third-party verification and IP cores. In addition to its programmable platforms, the company provides design services, customer training, field engineering and technical support.
