ODDO : Genfit and Poxel tick all the boxes

The European biotech stocks in our coverage universe have posted mixed performances since the start of the year. The pressure on share prices continued to mount as a result of fresh clinical disappointments and refinancing initiatives, notably among French biotechs. For the second part of the year, we continue to prefer Genfit (Buy, € 81 target price) for which we expect phase III results in NASH at the start of 2020, and Poxel (Buy, € 13.7 target price), which is set to benefit ...

ADOCIA is a biotechnology company based in France. Co. specializes in the development of formulations for already-approved therapeutic proteins with a primary focus on insulins and treatments for diabetic foot ulcers. Co.'s biotherapy products are used in tissue regeneration and for treating chronic diseases. Co.'s proprietary BioChaperone® technological platform is designed to enhance the effectiveness and safety of therapeutic proteins in areas such as wound Healing, diabetes, ulcers and monoclonal antibody creation. Co. also maintains activities in the formulation of monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of various chronic pathologies (oncology, inflammation, etc.).

Cellectis is a gene-editing company employing its core proprietary technologies to develop products in the field of immuno-oncology. UCART19 is Co.'s lead product. DBV Technologies SA

DBV Technologies is a clinical-stage specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on immunotherapy. Co.'s therapeutic approach is based on epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT), its proprietary method of delivering biologically active compounds to immune systems through intact skin using a platform called Viaskin. Viaskin is an electrostatic patch that offers a self-administered, non-invasive immunotherapy to patients. Once applied on intact skin, Viaskin forms a condensation chamber that hydrates the skin and solubilizes the antigen, allowing it to penetrate the epidermis, where it's captured by Langerhans cells. Co.'s patients include infants and children suffering from severe food allergies.

Genfit is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery and development of drugs and biomarkers in therapeutic areas of high unmet need due to the lack of effective treatments or diagnostic tools and/or due to the increasing number of patients worldwide. Co. concentrates its research and development efforts to participate in the commercialization of treatment solutions and diagnostic tools to fight certain metabolic, inflammatory, autoimmune or fibrotic diseases affecting especially the liver (such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or "NASH").

Genkyotex SA

GenKyoTex SA, formerly known as Genticel SA, is a France-based company involved in the biotechnology sector. The Company focuses on the development of therapies based on selective inhibition of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase (NOX) enzymes, which cause a range of disease processes, such as fibrosis, inflammation, pain processing, cancer development and neurodegeneration. The Company's pipeline includes GKT831, a NOX inhibitor aimed at primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and fibrosis; GKT771, a NOX inhibitor mainly aimed at inflammatory pain and angiogenesis, and other NOX inhibitors, which target at central nervous system (CNS), hearing loss and oncology.

GenSight Biologics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in France. Global Bioenergies SA is a France-based company that specializes in the development of a process to produce isobutene biologically from renewable resources. Isobutene, a hydrocarbon, can be converted into fuels such as isooctane, as well as into various materials (synthetic rubber, organic glass, plastics). The process developed by Global Bioenergies SA is based on the design of an artificial metabolic pathway comprising several enzymes catalyzing reactions not observed in nature. Six patent applications have been filed by the Company. The first two applications covering the key steps of the bio-production of isobutene and other olefins have already been published. Innate Pharma SA Class A

Innate Pharma S.A. is a biopharmaceutical Company developing immunotherapy drugs for cancer and inflammatory diseases. Co. specializes in the development of new monoclonal antibodies targeting receptors and pathways controlling the activation of innate immunity cells. Also, Co. has three product-candidates resulting from its research platform are being tested in clinical trials; two of these by Co.'s partners, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Novo Nordisk A/S. Co. focuses on immunopharmacology and antibody technology. Co. has a panel of molecular and cellular assays and in vivo models for assessing the pharmacodynamics, the pharmacotoxicology and efficacy of drug candidates.

Orphazyme A/S Formerly known as Orphazyme ApS. Orphazyme A/S, formerly Orphazyme ApS, is a Denmark-based company active within the biopharmaceutical industry. It develops new therapies for the treatment of a family of genetic disorders. The Company's main focus is on preclinical development of medicines for the treatment of lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs), a group of approximately 50 genetic disorders that result from deficiencies of lysosomal enzymes or other lysosomal components, and protein aggregation diseases. The Company's candidate, arimoclomol, stimulates the production of the cells' protein rescue system, the heat shock proteins, which helps the misfolded proteins to either get back to their functional shape or, if this cannot be achieved, remove them from the cells by means of the cells' recycling system, the lysosomes, so they no longer form toxic aggregates. The Company collaborates with academic institutions in Europe and the United States.

PHAXIAM THERAPEUTICS

Erytech Pharma is a pharmaceutical company based in France. Co. is primarily engaged in developing cancer therapies that work by starving tumors. Co.'s first product (ERY-ASP), which is in phase III development, provides a therapeutic solution to frail patients with acute leukemia. Co.'s proprietary technology is based on encapsulation of therapeutic molecules into red blood cells. Co. maintains a production unit located in Lyons with "Pharmaceutical Establishment" status. Co. has also signed two distribution partnership agreements with the Orphan Europe-Recordati company and the TEVA group.

Poxel SA

Poxel is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of treatments for type 2 diabetes and metabolic disease. Co.'s two drug candidates, Imeglimin and PXL770, are intended to complement and augment existing type 2 diabetes therapies, including in patients who no longer fully respond to such therapies, with the goal of helping patients better control their type 2 diabetes and reduce potentially disabling or fatal complications.

Transgene SA

Transgene is a biopharmaceutical company that designs and develops immunotherapy and virotherapy products for the treatment of cancers and infectious diseases. Co. is developing three anti-cancer products that are in clinical trials: (cancer of the lungs, liver and oropharynx); two anti-infectious immunotherapy products also in clinical trials: (hepatitis B and C). The Cardio-metabolic diseases area includes medicines for diabetes and obesity treatment, such as Lyxumia (Lixisenatide), Lyxumia/Lantus, ZP2929 and Danegaptide.
