CaixaBank and Bankia announced late last week that they had started talks for a potential merger. We believe the transaction will consist in CaixaBank acquiring Bankia through a share swap. The deal which would create the largest bank in Spain is still uncertain, but we (and others) see it as an attractive and convincing combination (despite the absence of details).
