Sustainability Weekly 10 – 14 February

Last week, we published one flash note on the European Commission’s 2025 Work Programme and a second on corporate governance gender diversity. Dutch companies expressed their support for EU sustainability and due diligence rules and denounced the Omnibus. According to Responsible Investor, the SFDR review has been postponed due to ongoing discussions on the Omnibus and several options are being considered. Institutional investors with $1.5tn in AuM are calling on asset managers to step up their climate actions or risk being left behind. GTT announced the departure of its CEO, temporarily replaced by its Chairman (and former CEO), and a major strategic reorientation of its hydrogen division Elogen. Around 95% of countries have not met the UN deadline to submit their new Nationally Determined Contributions, their greenhouse gas reduction policies under the Paris Agreement. BP reported sharply lower results as expected, and a strategic shift is expected to be announced on February 28. Friends of the Earth has decided to take the climate dispute over Shell’s emissions cuts to the Dutch Supreme Court. Nestlé defends packaged foods in the US and faces a judicial investigation in France over water treatment. ISS ends diversity considerations for US boards, citing Trump’s DEI executive orders.
