Last week, Euronext launched three thematic indices for EU energy, aerospace, and defense, and updated the methodologies of existing ESG indices. The European Commission issued a call for evidence in the context of the upcoming SFDR review. Global insured losses from natural catastrophes will reach $137 billion in 2024, according to a Swiss RE report. Exxon announced its ambition to devote $30 billion to “low-carbon technologies.” A shareholder resolution on Equinor’s climate strategy was rejected by the Council. In its Forest 500 report, Global Canopy highlights that 34% of companies reportedly have no public commitments on deforestation. A study conducted by the University of Zurich found that half of companies consider nature-related risks to be financially material. On the social front, Novo Nordisk is reportedly abandoning its DEI targets in the United States. In business ethics, Nestlé was ordered to "withdraw" its microfiltration system and is said to have begun the process of selling its Water division.
