Sustainability Weekly 7 – 11 April

Last week, we published our Preview for the Sustainability Forum 2025. It features the themes we believe should be addressed and the questions investors should ask companies. In the news last week, Morningstar published a report detailing how the UK's Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) have reshaped the UK ESG fund market. The French SIF published a Say-on-Climate assessment of ENGIE. According to a report by Ember, clean electricity has surpassed 40% of the global electricity mix. Global data center electricity consumption is expected to more than double by 2030, according to a new dedicated report by the IEA. Veolia announced its goal of doubling its desalination capacity by 2030. Germany's coalition agreement includes support for the Omnibus proposal, the abolition of Germany's Duty of Care Act (LkSG), and energy policy proposals. In business ethics, Nestlé's CEO was questioned by the French Senate's inquiry committee, while Ethos recommends voting against a number of resolutions at the AGM. At STMicroelectronics, independent members of the Supervisory Board blocked the appointment of Italian Marcello Sala, while the Board still supports the CEO, who is being challenged by the Italian government.
