US economy: weakened but still in an expansion phase

Will Donald Trump's economic policy be good for economic growth and, ultimately, for financial assets? Immediately after the election, the response from markets and sentiment surveys was pretty positive, reflecting hopes for tax cuts and deregulation. Four months later, the answer is fairly negative. The tariff policy is erratic, counterproductive to the interests of the United States itself and generates unprecedented uncertainty. The stock market is suffering, as is household confidence and the business climate. According to the Beige Book, the US economy remains in an expansion phase but at a pace that has slowed since the beginning of the year. It's a slippery slope.
