US: end of the oil boom = less growth

In the decade following the financial crisis, the shale oil industry enjoyed a real boom in the US. On average, this contributed 0.2 points to annual GDP growth, i.e. 10% of the total - and even 0.3 points or 15% excluding the 2014-2015 oil crisis. Despite productivity gains and a lowering of breakeven, this sector continues to generate losses, so companies are moderating their investments.
