US: jobless claims still outside the “danger zoneâ€
The most reliable high-frequency indicator of the US business cycle is given by new jobless claims. Advantage: it provides an almost real-time view of the labour market. Disadvantage: its weekly frequency makes it volatile. In recent weeks, these claims have risen moderately. Based on past experience, we define a "danger zone".
