Investment Companies Roundup - December 2020

Performance – The success of the vaccine programme has given fresh hope to companies that were hit hard by COVID-19. Funds managed with a ‘value’ style were amongst the best performers, including Aberforth Smaller Companies and Temple Bar.

Discounts/premiums – Profit taking on trusts that have done well this year pushed down the share prices of the likes of BH Macro and Baillie Gifford US Growth.

Money in and out –  Scottish Mortgage stepped up and bought back stock from investors cashing in their gains.

Major news stories – Five more funds announced plans to IPO. Most ambitious is VH Global Sustainable Energy Opportunities which will be looking to raise £400m early next year.
