IBERIAN DAILY 25 APRIL + 1Q'25 RESULTS. PREVIEWS (ANÁLISIS BANCO SABADELL)

NEWS SUMMARY: FERROVIAL, INDRA.

At the end of today’s report, and during the entire results season, we will include a presentation with positive and negative results highlights and previews for the 1Q’25 results to be released over the coming days in Spain.

The Euro STOXX 50 consolidates at the 5,100-point level
European stock markets rose, seeing an increasing performance. In the STOXX 600, cyclical sectors such as Autos and Basic Resources were the best performers whereas Banks and Telecoms posted the biggest drops. On the macro side, in Germany, April’s IFO climbed unexpectedly whereas the German government cut its GDP forecasts’25 to stagnation vs. 0.3% prev. In the US weekly jobless claims rose in line with expectations, core capital goods orders climbed less than expected in March and existing home sales slowed down more than expected in March. On the political front, D. Trump suggested a peace agreement between Ukraine and the US. In Japan, Tokyo’s inflation climbed more than expected and the BoJ governor reiterated his message of further monetary tightening. As for tariffs, China would be studying the possibility of excluding from the 125% tariff some US products (industrial chemicals and medical equipment), announcing new financial aid instruments for the companies affected by tariffs . In US business results, Hasbro, Alphabet (Google), ServiceNow, T-Mobile, Texas beat expectations, Nasdaq was in line and Procter&Gamble, PepsiCo and Union Pacific released disappointing figures.
What we expect for today
Stock markets would open with gains of +0.5%. Currently, S&P futures are up +0.5% (the S&P 500 ended +0.72% higher vs. the European closing bell). Asian markets are climbing (China’s CSI 300 +0.2% and Japan’s Nikkei +1.8%).
Today in the US we will learn April’s University of Michigan final consumer confidence and in Mexico February’s IGAE activity index. In US business results Aon, Colgate-Palmolive and Phillips 66, among others, will release their earnings.
