Greece Macro/Strategy: Cruising steadily, with the occasional bump

The flash estimate of 1Q19 GDP showed a weaker yoy rate of growth than the past two years, at 1.3%, raising the question of whether the recovery is derailing. We believe it is not, for two reasons: first, Greek economic indices are more volatile than in most other countries, including GDP; and, secondly, the composition did not show a major change of trend, but confirmed a softening of export growth, while imports were robust. All-in-all, the picture remains consistent with growth roughly around 2% in the coming two years.
