WOOD Flash – Feedback from Bucharest - House of cards, Romanian style

During our trip to Bucharest, earlier this week, we had the opportunity to meet with the central bank and representatives of local and international institutions. The mood on the ground is muted, amid a fragile political outlook (watch out for the European Parliament elections in May), a weakening macro environment and the uncertainty created by the Emergency Ordinance, issued on 18 December 2018. In view of this low visibility, the trip confirmed our assessment over the Romanian macro outlook, and we believe volatility will remain the name of the game for the local equity market for the foreseeable future.
