WOOD’s Universe – ESG: regional disclosure is rising to the occasion

In our third annual survey of sustainability reporting, we have, again, collected the data necessary for the mandatory “adverse sustainability indicators”, required for Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) reporting. 2022 is the first year that managers will have to monitor – but not disclose – the so-called principle adverse impacts. It is similarly the first “dry-run” for many corporates to disclose their sustainability data. This year, 80 companies responded to our survey, vs. last year’s 104, excluding the 22 Russian and Ukrainian companies participating in 2021, which declined for 2022. Nonetheless, we had 68 “returnees” plus 12 “new joiners”. Importantly, we saw a material uptick in both the proportion of companies providing data, as well as establishing the frameworks for incorporating sustainability in their corporate structures.
