NTT DATA Services Names New CEO in Planned Leadership Transition

NTT DATA Services, a recognized leader in global technology services, today announced Bob Pryor has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2018. John McCain, who has served as CEO since 2010, was named the company’s new Executive Chairman on April 1, 2018. He will also become the first non-Japanese member of the Board of Directors for NTT DATA Corporation, a top 10 global business and IT services provider based in Japan.

Pryor, who has been with NTT DATA since 2016 and most recently served as COO since April 2017, will be responsible for overseeing NTT DATA Services’ business operations and driving growth and innovation in digital, cloud and security. In addition to his role as CEO, Pryor will also serve on the NTT DATA Services Board of Directors.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization, which has some of the most talented, forward-thinking leaders, innovative capabilities and impressive client successes around the globe,” said Pryor. “We will continue to operate with a client-first approach to advance our clients’ digital agendas, while focusing on operating efficiently and delivering the solutions that drive sustained growth.”

“We have a world-class team that has leveraged R&D as well as acquisitions to enhance solutions around cloud, automation and digital applications in addition to our legacy capabilities,” said McCain. “As COO, Bob played an essential role in setting this strong foundation, including the successful integration of the former Dell Services, and he will do a great job as CEO leading this company and our clients into the future.”

NTT DATA Services represents one of the industry’s most comprehensive services portfolios designed to modernize business and technology while delivering tangible results for clients. The company’s major vertical segments include healthcare and life sciences, financial services and insurance, public sector, manufacturing and commercial industries.

“Mr. McCain led an evolution of NTT DATA Services and helped improve the company’s global reach and market share through a combination of organic and inorganic strategies. Because of Mr. Pryor’s involvement in all facets of the business during the last two years, we expect he will seamlessly take the reins and continue driving expansion of capabilities to serve clients,” said Jimit Arora, Partner, Everest Group.

However, mobile marketing spend has dented profitability again, with management revising guidance for full year 2025 across the board downwards. We continue to be Buyers but prefer KDDI and SB (our top pick among the 3 Japanese incumbents).
