Barrick Builds Future Leadership

TORONTO, March 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD)(TSX:ABX) is building its future leadership by injecting youth and diversity into its highly experienced team, thus aligning it with technological advances as well as the evolving expectations of a rapidly changing world, says executive chairman John Thornton in the company’s published today.

“A wide range of skills, experience, perspectives and backgrounds will, we believe, foster continuing innovation, equip us to deal effectively with opportunities, challenges and risks, and draw us even closer to our stakeholders worldwide,” he says.

“Barrick has a high-performance culture and, in order to attract outstanding people who share our vision and values, our compensation model is ownership-based. A broad spectrum of our employees are shareholders, with a stake in the future success of the company and a common interest with our other investors.”

Thornton says Barrick has emerged even stronger from a difficult year and has made significant progress since the transformational merger with Randgold towards its goal of building the world’s most valued gold company. There is still more to do, however, and the company’s 5 and 10 year plans will keep management focused on the attainment of the next set of goals.

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

After 5.5-months, the S&P 500 (SPX) finally broke below its 20-day MA in decisive fashion on Friday. However, 6569 has been our level that needs to break in order for us to have confidence that a pullback has begun; SPX made a low of 6551 on Friday (less than 20 points or 0.3% from our 6569 level), meaning it was not a decisive breakdown (in time or price). As a result, our near-term bullish outlook since our 4/22/25 Compass remains intact, and it will stay that way as long as the SPX holds abov...

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

Downgrading Utilities to Market Weight We remain bullish since our 4/22/25 Compass, and we will maintain our bullish outlook as long as market dynamics remain healthy and the S&P 500 (SPX) is above 6028-6059. Shorter-term, the SPX continues to make higher lows as new leaders emerge and rotations continue; we would need to see a break below 6340-6360 in order to have confidence that a consolidation period has finally begun. Short-term supports on SPX include 6400-6410, 6340-6360, 6200, 6100-6150...
