Cree Opens Design Possibilities for Architectural Lighting with New CLQ6A LED

Cree (Nasdaq: CREE) expands its leading family of Architectural Lighting Class LEDs with the new CLQ6A RGBW (red, green, blue and white) LED. The first individually addressable one-watt RGBW LED in its class, the CLQ6A LED unlocks new designs that were previously not possible. The four-in-one LED provides a single point source for excellent optical control, efficient color mixing and simplified design, enabling lighting manufacturers to offer beautiful and differentiated architectural lighting.

“Architectural lighting is one of the most challenging applications because of the scale, visibility and complexity of the installations. This is why we trust our brand with Cree® LEDs,” said Li Yong Tao, R&D Director at Grand Canyon LED Lighting Systems Co, Ltd. “Cree® LEDs deliver superior luminous flux output, rich color options and excellent color consistency that are perfect for architectural lighting. Cree’s high reliability enables us to offer products that perform well even in harsh outdoor conditions.”

Delivering 8.2 lumens for Blue, 30 lumens for Green, 14 lumens for Red and 25 lumens for White at 100 mA in a 5 x 5.2 mm package, the CLQ6A LED improves brightness by seven times over similar 4:1 LEDs that have not been optimized for architectural lighting. Cree is also extending its CLX6F family with a PC Amber option that delivers 23 lumens at 105 mA in a 3.4 mm x 3.5 mm package. These new LEDs provide unique design options and expand Cree’s portfolio of LEDs for architectural lighting, which includes the high-power XLamp® XQ-A, XQ-E, XP-E2 and XM-L Color LEDs.

“Cree continues to develop new application-optimized LEDs that provide our customers with the best options to meet their design requirements,” said Dave Emerson, Cree LEDs senior vice president and general manager. “Previously, lighting manufacturers only had high and low power LEDs to choose from for these color options. With the new CLQ6A and CLX6F LEDs, we are expanding the industry’s best portfolio of LEDs for architectural lighting with the light output and reliability innovations expected from Cree to fill the performance gap in the market and meet customers’ needs.”

Product samples of the CLQ6A and CLX6F LEDs are available now with standard lead times. Please visit http://www.cree.com/architecture to learn more.

The Tech Infrastructure Quarterly Bible 1Q22

We publish this morning our comprehensive quarterly bible: 164 pages of detailed analyses on what happened in the last 3 months, and how we interpret it, in light of our current convictions. This quarter was in our view particularly telling for those wondering how the next cycle will play out: In Industrials and Autos, we see early signs of a peak, with inventories rebuilding and semi revenues as a percentage of end-product revenues multiple standard deviations above trend. In PCs and Smartpho...
