This LED controller/driver is a platform-based design solution for triac-dimmable LED lamps. The internal MOSFET versions provide a low-cost solution with compact PCB size and directly drive lamps rated from 3W to 13W. The controller-only version with an external MOSFET can support higher power applications up to 25W.
Intended for offline triac-dimmable LED lighting applications, the single-stage, buck-boost, non-isolated configuration of the AL1692 provides a high power factor, low total harmonic distortion and high triac dimmer compatibility solution to meet National Electrical Manufactures Association (NEMA) Solid State Lighting (SSL) standards. The AL1692 eliminates auxiliary winding and provides an accurate output LED current that ensures excellent line and load regulation, while its operation in boundary conduction mode (BCM) achieves high-conversion efficiency and eases EMI design to further reduce BOM cost.
The AL1692 offers four internal MOSFET options with various drain-source on-resistances for either 120VAC or 230VAC operation, and to cover a wide range of output voltage/current applications including: 4.7Ω/700V, 4Ω/600V, 3.2Ω/500V and 2.8Ω/400V. Enhanced internal protection features, such as LED open/short circuit protection, over-temperature, under-voltage lockout, leading-edge blanking, cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, and thermal fold-back protection improve system safety and reliability.
