San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Chooses Tyler Technologies’ Civil Process Software Suite

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) signed an agreement with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in California for Tyler’s SoftCode, a complete civil process software suite, to help improve customer service through increased efficiencies and transparency. The agreement is valued at $1.1 million and includes software licenses, related professional services, data conversion and support.

San Bernardino County needed to replace the outdated legacy civil processing solution used by the sheriff’s department. County leaders wanted a new civil processing solution to automate capturing, storing and organizing business data, which will allow for better reporting and business intelligence. By transitioning from paper-based to electronic processes, the department can better allocate work and resources among its branch offices, enhancing efficiency and streamlining complex civil process workflows.

After a competitive review, San Bernardino County chose Tyler’s SoftCode, joining a number of other California counties that have chosen Tyler’s civil process solution. County leaders valued Tyler’s financial strength, deep expertise in civil process, and successful track record of more than 100 SoftCode implementations over several decades. The county also valued Tyler’s evergreen perpetual licensing approach that provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software enhancements without an additional relicensing or service fee.

“When we decided to upgrade our civil software, we started by contacting other California counties to see what they were using. Every county we spoke with that was using Tyler’s SoftCode suite highly recommended the product. In our subsequent meetings with Tyler, we were very impressed by their ability to easily tailor their existing product used in California for our needs,” said Captain James Williams, commander of the San Bernardino County Court Services Division. “We are confident that the implementation of the SoftCode system in San Bernardino County will allow our Civil Enforcement Unit to greatly improve its internal operations and the delivery of service to the public.”

The sheriff’s department selected several SoftCode modules, including CivilServe, CivilView, an attorney portal, and CivilMobile, which provides mobile access to deputies in the field. SoftCode lets the sheriff’s department electronically and securely exchange data with other county departments and government agencies, as well as improve management processes and revenue capture through eliminating duplicate data entry.

As part of Tyler courts and justice solutions, SoftCode offers comprehensive and flexible capabilities that counties need to execute civil process more effectively and efficiently, saving valuable time and resources.

“We look forward to providing San Bernardino County modern technology to automate business operations,” said Steve Magoun, vice president of Tyler’s SoftCode solution. “We are pleased to welcome San Bernardino County to our rapidly growing family of California counties to choose SoftCode. The expertise gained in these other successful implementations will be leveraged to help San Bernardino increase service to the public and to make efficient use of taxpayer dollars.”

San Bernardino County is northeast of Los Angeles and covers more than 20,000 square miles; it is California’s fifth most populous county, with approximately 2 million residents.
