IBERIAN DAILY 22 DECEMBER (ANÁLISIS BANCO SABADELL)

NEWS SUMMARY: AMPER, CAF, FCC, REPSOL.

The Ibex is still unstoppable
European stock markets ended the week in positive numbers, underpinned by the improved economic sentiment and stability on the markets. The IBEX stood out as the best-performing index, rising +2.0% and above 17,200. In the STOXX 600, all the sectors except Technology, Autos and Energy ended the week with gains, led by Banks and Basic Materials. On the macro side, in the euro zone December’s consumer confidence fell unexpectedly. In the US, the final U. Michigan consumer confidence was lowered, second-hand home sales sped up less than expected, although reaching its highest level from the past nine months. In geopolitics, Putin stated that the changes made by Europe and Ukraine in the US proposals to end the war do not improve the outlook of peace.
What we expect for today
European stock markets would open mixed, despite the strong performance of Asian markets and the good end to the session in the US on Friday. Currently, S&P futures are up +0.2% (the S&P 500 ended +0.15% higher vs. the European closing bell). Asian markets are climbing (China’s CSI 300 +0.92%, Japan’s Nikkei +1.8% and Korea’s Kospi +2.1%).
Today in the UK we will learn the final 3Q’25 GDP and in Mexico October’s IGAE economic activity index.
