Fabindia Pre-IPO

Fabindia is a consumer lifestyle platform with a 62-year legacy focused on authentic, sustainable and Indian traditional lifestyle products. It is looking to raise around US$500m in its India IPO.

Fabindia offers a diverse portfolio of lifestyle products to its customers across Apparel and Accessories, Home and Lifestyle, Personal Care and Organic Food categories. Its two main brands are ‘Fabindia’ for apparels and ‘Organic India’ for organic food

Fabindia has a strong brand across urban India, in our view. The company has been expanding its offering beyond apparels to cover other household items as well as into organic food, such that the share of apparel in its 1H22 had dropped to 46.5%. Fabindia is also well placed on the sustainability front, as it works with artisans and farmers, directly and via its contract manufacturers.

On the financial performance front, COVID impacted its FY21 performance, as it had to close its stores for a few months. However, its recovery appears to be slow as well and its overall growth trajectory still appears low. Thus, its actual stable financial performance remains unclear to us.
