First American Named to the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® List for Second Year in a Row

First American Financial Corporation (NYSE: FAF), a leading global provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions for real estate transactions, announced today that the company is one of the 2017 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®, according to Fortune and global research and consulting firm Great Place to Work®. This marks the second consecutive year that First American has earned a place among the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®.

“Ranking among the best companies in America to work for two years running is a tremendous accomplishment. Our people consistently impress me with their integrity, commitment and teamwork, so I’m proud to see their efforts to create a premier workplace recognized nationally again,” said Dennis Gilmore, CEO, First American Financial Corporation. “Embracing a culture that emphasizes people first continues to deliver returns for our employees, our customers, our shareholders and for the communities in which we work.”

First American was among hundreds of other companies evaluated for placement on the list. The evaluation is based on feedback from over 232,000 employees at Great Place to Work–Certified™ companies with more than 1,000 employees. Companies vying for consideration must participate in an employee survey and respond to an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices. Employees rate their workplace culture on a variety of aspects, including the level of trust they feel towards leaders, the pride they take in their jobs and the camaraderie they experience with co-workers.

“Congratulations to the 2017 100 Best,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “These leading companies are at the vanguard of a new business frontier, where organizations know they have to develop the full human potential of all their employees. They are working to build Great Places to Work for all, which are better for business, better for people and better for the world.”

In 2016, Fortune® and Great Place to Work® also named First American as one of the 2016 Best Workplaces for Women and 2016 Best Workplaces for Diversity. First American has earned recognition as a “best place to work” 48 times in publications across the United States since 2012.

Internationally, the company’s Canadian subsidiary, FCT, was named by Great Place to Work® as one of that country’s Top 50 Best Workplaces in 2015 and 2016, and a 2017 Best Workplace in Canada for Women.

About The Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®

The ranking is based on feedback from more than 232,000 employees at Great Place to Work–Certified™ companies with more than 1,000 employees. Winning a spot on this list indicates the company has distinguished itself from peers by creating a great place to work for employees – measured and ranked through our analysis of the results of our Trust Index© survey and Culture Audit© questionnaire. Through the Trust Index©, employees anonymously assess their workplace, including the honesty and quality of communication by managers, degree of support for employees' personal and professional lives and the authenticity of relationships with colleagues. Results from the survey are highly reliable, having a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 5 percent or less. Companies' results on the Trust Index© survey are compared to peer organizations of like size and complexity. The Culture Audit© includes detailed questions about benefits, programs and practices.
