Lincoln Financial sponsored Glasbrenner during his journey to the top of Everest, and will continue the partnership as he sets out to achieve his subsequent goals over the next two years. His overarching goal is to complete what is known as the Explorers Grand Slam. This includes climbing all Seven Summits — the highest peaks on each continent — and skiing both the North and South Poles. Glasbrenner is already on his way to scaling all Seven Summits. In addition to Mt. Everest, he has climbed Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak in South America. This month, he will climb Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Europe’s tallest mountain.

“We’re thrilled to continue to be a part of Jeff’s journey,” said Dick Mucci, president of Group Benefits at Lincoln Financial. “He embodies many of the values our business stands for — optimism, perseverance ― and the will to set and achieve goals. Even after reaching a major goal, he still has his sights set on more.”

Glasbrenner’s background is one of overcoming obstacles. At just eight years old, he lost his right leg in an accident on his family farm. At the time, he was told he would never run, swim or participate in sports again. Then, in college, he discovered wheelchair basketball. The sport spurred his drive to excel in the athletic world, and he went on to become a three-time Paralympian and two-time World Champion in wheelchair basketball and finish 25 long-distance triathlons.

“One of the most important aspects of what I do is sharing my story with others,” said Glasbrenner. “I want to help people understand that if you set goals and have a positive attitude, you can conquer any obstacle. My partnership with Lincoln Financial allows me to spread that message.”

As a provider of insurance products such as disability, life, accident and critical illness insurance, many Lincoln Financial employees often work with individuals who have experienced physical or emotional challenges.

“Jeff’s message speaks to what we do every day – we want to help people overcome their challenges and reach their financial goals,” Mucci said. “With this partnership, we can share Jeff’s inspirational story with our own employees, as well as with our clients, partners and customers.”

More information about Glasbrenner’s Mt. Everest expedition, as well as his future endeavors, can be found in his column on LincolnFinancial.com.
