Lincoln Financial Group Named Sustainability Leader by Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE:LNC) today announced that the company has been named on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America for the second consecutive year. The achievement signifies Lincoln Financial’s continued commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability.

“Lincoln Financial is committed to improving the environment and the lives of those with whom we interact,” said Nancy Rogers, senior vice president of Corporate Responsibility at Lincoln. “As part of this commitment, we strive to continually assess, monitor and manage our impact on people and the environment. As a leading Fortune 500, it is important for us to understand what resources we use and to manage them as efficiently as possible.”

Launched in 2009, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) series comprises the most widely recognized sustainability indices in the US. The DJSI criteria integrate assessment of economic, environmental, and social practices within large, publicly traded companies. Companies are invited to participate in the DJSI Corporate Sustainability Assessment on a yearly basis. The companies with the highest scores in each industry are then selected for inclusion on the index.

In North America, 614 companies were invited to participate and 150 companies made the index. In insurance specifically, 32 companies were invited to participate. Lincoln Financial was one of only seven that made DJSI North America. They did particularly well in the environmental dimension, a reflection of the company’s commitment to understanding and reducing its environmental impact and risk.
