VAT details unveil Eastern as key beneficiary

Raise TP by 25% on advantageous tax changes. On 8 September 2016, the Ministry of Finance officially declared that cigarettes will continue to be subject to specific tax treatment and will be VAT exempt. The fixed tax was raised by EGP0.5-1.0/pack, depending on selling prices. Tax brackets were also expanded with the ceiling for the first retail price bracket raised to EGP13/pack up from EGP10/pack and Eastern’s exfactory prices are up by a blended average of 16%. We raise our 12-month TP to EGP330/share from EGP265/share as we increase our FY2017-21 EPS forecasts by an average of c12% p.a. as a result of these tax changes and price increases.
