Aker is an industrial investment company that exercises active ownership. Co. organizes its business activities in two segments: Industrial holdings and Financial investments. The industrial holdings comprise Co.'s ownership interests in Aker Solutions ASA, Kvaerner ASA, Det norske oljeselskap ASA, Ocean Yield ASA, Aker BioMarine ASA and Havfisk ASA. The financial investments comprise cash, real estate, investments in funds and other financial assets of Co. and holding companies, with the exception of industrial equity investments. Co.'s ownership interests are concentrated in the oil and gas, fisheries/marine biotechnology, maritime assets and finance sectors.
Alk-Abello is engaged in the development and marketing of pharmaceutical products for the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of allergies. Co.'s product portfolio comprises allergy vaccines, emergency treatments and allergy diagnostics products. Co.'s allergy vaccines product offering comprises tablet vaccines, sublingual vaccines and subcutaneous vaccines. Co.'s emergency treatments product offering comprises products for the management of anaphylaxis. Co.'s allergy diagnostics product offering comprises allergen extracts for allergy testing, such as skin-prick tests.
Carlsberg is engaged in the production and sale of beer and other beverages. Co.'s brewing operations are concentrated in Northern and Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia, while markets outside these regions are serviced through exports and production under license. Co.'s other beverages include soft drinks, water and cider. In addition to beverage activities, Co. is also engaged in real estate.
Europris ASA is a Norway-based discount retailer. The Company offers a broad assortment of brand name merchandise and own labels. Its offering is divided in 12 product categories: Home & Kitchen, Groceries, House & Garden, Electronics, Personal Care, Clothes & Shoes, Handyman, Hobby & Office, Candy & Chocolate, Laundry & Cleaning, Pets, and Travel, Leisure & Sport. The Europris chain comprises more than 220 stores across Norway. Its business model is based on direct ownership and franchise.
Kongsberg Gruppen supplies technology systems and solutions to customers engaged in the oil and gas industry, the merchant marine, and the defense and aerospace industries. Co.'s operating segments are Kongsberg Maritime, which delivers products and systems for commercial vessels and offshore installations, as well as for seabed surveys, surveillance, training simulators and fishing vessels and fisheries research; Kongsberg Defence Systems, a supplier of defence and space-related systems; Kongsberg Protech Systems, which provides weapon guidance system Protector RWS for military use; and Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies, a supplier of solutions to the international oil and gas industry.
Norwegian Air Shuttle is a low cost passenger travel airline. Co. operates both scheduled services and additional charter services. Co. has aircraft bases in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Spain and the U.K.
Solon Eiendom is a biotechnology company. Co.'s focus is the research and development of peptide based vaccines against viral diseases, primarily human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). As of Dec 31 2013, Co.'s clinical development pipeline comprised of two vaccine candidates for the treatment of HIV, Vacc-4X and Vacc-C5. Vacc-4X is being investigated in two phases II trials in collaboration with Celgene Inc.
Helgeland Sparebank (the Bank) is a Norway-based regional bank active in the Norwegian region of Helgeland. It offers its services mainly to the private market, business and the public sector. Its offering includes such products and services, as payment services, credit cards, saving accounts, placement services, loans, insurance, shares and currencies, as well as an online banking facility, the Nettbank. Additionally, the Bank carries out leasing of property through ANS Bankbygg Mo, AS Sparebankbygg, Helgeland Sparebank Eiendomsselskap AS and Helgeland Utviklingsselskap AS, all of which are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Bank. Co.'s reporting segments are: Consumer Board, which develops and provides consumer packaging boards for printing and packaging applications; Packaging Solutions, which develops fibre-based packaging; Biomaterials, which provides a variety of pulp grades for paper, board, tissue, textile and hygiene product producers; Wood Products, which provides wood-based solutions for building and housing; Paper, which provides paper solutions for print media and office use; as well as Other, which includes Co.'s shareholding in the energy company, Pohjolan Voima.
Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB is a healthcare company focused on rare diseases. Co. develops, manufactures and commercializes treatments with a particular focus on four therapeutic areas: Inflammation, Genetics & Metabolism, Haemophilia and Neonatology. Co. also markets a portfolio of rare disease products for partner companies. Co.'s pipeline programmes include research and development focused on recombinant protein drugs in late preclinical and clinical phase for indications.
