Metsa Board (Buy, TP: EUR12.20) - Exceptional results
Metsa Board reported a strong Q1, with exceptionally high paperboard volumes on robust demand across end-uses, and record production volumes and efficiency. As a result, cost performance was outstanding, and much of the benefit of increasing paperboard and pulp prices is yet to impact results. The company guided for EBIT to improve further in Q2, driven by additional growth in paperboard volumes and the realisation of announced price increases. We have raised our estimates significantly, and reiterate our BUY, with an elevated target price of EUR12.2 (10.8)Metsa Board is a European producer of folding boxboard and white fresh forest fibre linerboard and a market pulp supplier. Co. and its subsidiaries comprise a forest industry group, which operations are organized into two business segments: Cartonboard and Lineboard and Paper. The Cartonboard business area is a manufacturer of folding boxboards. The business area also provides packaging services in Asia. The Linerboard and Paper business area is a manufacturer of coated white fresh forest fibre linerboards and producer of uncoated fresh forest fibre linerboards. The Linerboard and Paper business area also manufactures uncoated fine papers mainly for office end-use as well as coated papers.
