Over the last quarter, all of the major managed-care companies have reported positive results, largely driven by lower medical costs. This cost containment has been especially impressive as UnitedHealth, Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, and Humana have been able to drive material membership growth, in particular from government-funded Medicare and Medicaid insurance programs.
