Bank of Nova Scotia Reports Strong 3Q Earnings; Provisions Decrease; Maintaining Fair Value
Bank of Nova Scotia reported third-quarter net income of CAD 2 billion, or CAD 1.54 per share, and a return on equity of 14.8%. A quarterly dividend of CAD 0.72 per share was declared, an increase over the CAD 0.72 dividend seen during the first and second quarters of 2016. We were pleased with the improvements in credit loss provisions during the quarter and believe these will continue given recent positive trends in oil prices.
