Cardinal Health Announces Two Major Developments; Our FVE and Wide Moat Rating Are Intact
Cardinal Health announced two significant developments April 18 related to its core pharmaceutical distribution and emerging medical product distribution operations. The firm will buy a sizable medical consumable product line from Medtronic for $6.1 billion; separately, it revised its generic profit outlook downward. As a result of the latter, Cardinal has lowered its profit outlook for the remainder of fiscal 2017 and fiscal 2018. Management did say it expects profit to recover into fiscal 2019...Cardinal Health is a healthcare services and products company providing customized solutions for hospitals, healthcare systems, pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical laboratories and physician offices. The company's segments include: Pharmaceutical and Medical. The company's Pharmaceutical segment distributes branded and generic pharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical and over-the-counter healthcare and consumer products in the United States. The company's Medical segment manufactures, sources and distributes Cardinal Health branded medical, surgical and laboratory products, which are sold in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and other markets.
