Celanese leverages its commodity acetic acid production through higher-value chemical derivatives.

Celanese announced it has abandoned plans to spin off its acetate tow business into a joint venture with Blackstone's Rhodia Acetow subsidiary because the proposed transaction was unable to gain regulatory approval. We're increasing our fair value estimate for Celanese to $68 per share from $67 as the time value of money is partially offset by the elimination of deal-related synergies.
