Essity Meets Top-Line Expectations in 2Q, but Shares Look Overvalued

In its first quarter as an independent organization, no-moat Essity reported second-quarter results that were mostly within our expectations. Net sales were up over 12% in the quarter, in line with our forecast of 10% annual growth for the year, thanks to the acquisition of BSN Medical (closed during the quarter); ongoing currency tailwinds, which added 4% to the firm’s top line; and a contribution from price/mix of 50 basis points.
