While cabozantinib is approved in two indications, digging a moat will be tough for Exelixis.
Exelixis released fourth-quarter results that were marginally above our expectations thanks to strong cabozantinib growth in the relapsed/refractory kidney cancer market. We may increase our $12 fair value estimate to account for the time value of money, partially offset by slightly higher-than-expected operating costs in 2017. Management expects full-year operating costs of $290 million-$310 million, modestly higher than our original expense projections.
