Fiat Chrysler Shows Healthy Margin Expansion, Raises Guidance; Maintaining EUR 15 FVE
No-moat Fiat Chrysler reported diluted earnings per share before special items of EUR 0.47, EUR 0.11 better than the consensus EPS of EUR 0.36 and jumping EUR 0.34 from last year’s reported EUR 0.14 result. Healthy margin expansion during the quarter on a richer product mix including Jeep, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati products enabled a 29% pop in EBIT, despite a nearly flat revenue line on a 4% decline in volume, each versus the year-ago quarter.
