May U.S. auto sales benefited from one extra selling day this May versus May 2017. Total sales increased by 4.7% year over year to 1.59 million while Automotive News put the seasonally adjusted annualized selling rate at 16.91 million versus 16.82 million in May 2017. We calculate that after adjusting for the extra selling day, sales grew by 0.6%.
